Senior Mechanical Engineer - Subsea Technology

Are you an experienced, ambitious mechanical engineer looking to take a lead engineering role? Do you thrive on technical challenges in demanding environments? Do you want to work on cutting-edge subsea products from initial design and FEM analysis to final industrialization?

Blue Logic is a world leader in subsea technology, specializing in subsea interfaces, valves, gearboxes, tooling, and mechanical systems that operate reliably where traditional technologies fail. Located in Sandnes, Norway, we operate at the forefront of subsea innovation.

As part of the Blue House group, Blue Logic works in close collaboration with our sister company, Unplugged, combining mechanical excellence with advanced wireless power and high-speed data solutions.

The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering department. For candidates with sufficient experience, this position will be appointed directly as Lead Engineer. In this role, you will take a key technical position, deeply involved in mechanical design, 3D modeling, and numerical analysis of robust subsea products and systems.

Your mission is to design high-quality, reliable subsea equipment that meets stringent industry standards, ensuring seamless integration from prototype to scaled manufacturing and operation.

The role reports to the CTO and plays a key part in multidisciplinary project execution across the Blue House group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and 3D model robust mechanical designs, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing documentation using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Perform FEM analysis using Ansys (or equivalent tools) to verify product integrity, safety factors, and performance under harsh subsea conditions. Experience with CFD analysis to optimize flow characteristics is also desirable.
  • Drive product development and lifecycle management from concept through prototyping, testing, and industrialization, ensuring efficient manufacturing and assembly.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, workshop, and sales to align technical solutions and project execution

Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering disciplines. Relevant senior or lead level engineering experience is preferred, but junior engineers or graduates with strong project/thesis experience might also be considered.
  • Proven experience with 3D CAD modelling (Autodesk Inventor or similar) and FEM analysis tools (Ansys or similar). CFD competence is a bonus.
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering principles, material selection, and manufacturing methods. Multidisciplinary insight, such as integration with electronics and hydraulics, is highly advantageous. Experience from the subsea, oil & gas, or marine industry is required.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Norwegian language skills are an advantage, but not a strict requirement.

Personal Attributes

  • Structured and analytical, with the ability to handle complex technical requirements and deliver accurate 3D models, engineering designs, and calculations.
  • Practical problem solver who enjoys troubleshooting, optimizing designs, and finding robust solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Collaborative team player who builds strong working relationships across engineering teams, workshop personnel, and management.
  • Proactive and quality-driven, taking ownership of tasks while maintaining high standards of precision and quality assurance.

Why Join Blue Logic?

  • A central role in an innovative, world-leading subsea technology company with high growth ambitions.
  • Exciting, hands-on engineering challenges at the forefront of the subsea sector.
  • Strong backing and close collaboration within Blue Logic and our sister company Unplugged.
  • An open, agile work environment with skilled and supportive colleagues.
  • Excellent opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth, with the potential to transition into roles such as Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager as the organization expands.
