Successful Test of Autonomous Docking of UID

Blue Logic has in close cooperation with Equinor and Saipem developed an automatic docking unit for subsea Unmanned Intervention Drones, UID. The purpose of the docking unit is to perform docking and mating of the Blue Logic inductive connectors to allow battery charging and data communication. Once landed in correct position, the docking mechanism will automatically click onto the primary side inductive connector and establish contact with the vehicle’s secondary side inductive connector. Release after completed charging and data transfer is electrically activated by the  UID. An extend and retract feature keeps the unit well protected inside the UID whenever disconnected.
The successful docking operation was conducted by Modus using their Saab Sabretooth AUV .
