Blue Logic was asked to come up with a tooling solution for removal of a stuck polymeric object
A stuck object preventing intervention of critical subsea infrastructure is not an ideal situation. A client had such problem finding it impossible to remove the object by ROV manipulator and the tools included in a typical ROV spread.
As Blue Logic has a long track record related to bespoke ROV tools, we were asked to solve this challenge - rather quickly please....
The task was handed over to a project team including personell with backround from ROV operations, engineering and hydraulics. A few weeks later a complete package was succesfully tested and ready to face all possible operational scenarios.
The tooling package includes the following main components:
- Interface Frames for aligment of tools
- Drilling Tool to prepare for extraction
- Manipulator operated Pull Out Tool to interface the pre-drilled hole and remove the object
- Hydraulic Pull Out Tool - plan B
- Plug Removal and Injection Tools to eject object using water jet pump - plan C
After testing at Blue Logic's workshop, the tools have now been operated subsea . Armed with this tooling package the challenge was sucesfully solved, supervised by Blue Logic engineer.
